Kemp & Ruby

Deep red kemp, set with ruby. Kemp is the uncut stone of South Indian temple ornament, bezel set rather than faceted, which is why it reads as soft colour rather than sparkle.

The edit spreads across maang tikka, earrings, short necklaces and finger rings, so the stone can be taken in small doses or worn as a full set. Floral forms and the peacock recur, with the moon, the mango and Lakshmi through the larger pieces. Pearls and American Diamond appear alongside the kemp, and green beads soften the red where a piece needs it. Prices begin around Rs 207, the lowest floor of any edit here, and reach about Rs 11,700.

Kemp is the oldest colour in the house palette and the one it returns to most. If you want that red without committing to a bridal weight, this is the edit that carries it at every scale.

Where Temple Heritage is organised by what a piece depicts, this one is organised by what it is set with. The two overlap, and a piece can sit in both.
